Kawaii Overnight

Okay, another cloth diapering question…this time about night usage?

We cloth diaper during the day. My daughter is 17 months and sleeps through the night 12 hours. Some odd times, she will sleep an extra 2 hours if she’s had a busy day. SO…we’ve always just gone the safe route and used disposables for nighttime. Before she started sleeping such long stints and we were changing her during night feedings, we tried her with cloth overnight but she was soaking through even with just 4-5 hours, using two soaker pads. During the day, she has never soaked through any of her diapers, and we just use one soaker pad. We use pockets and AIO’s.

What do you recommend? A brand, a technique? Currently most of our stash is KaWaii Baby pockets and Bum Genius 3.0′s and I’ve been extremely happy with the daytime use.

Get some hemp inserts.
They’re not terribly expensive and they absorb much much more than the microfleece inserts.
You use both (the hemp and the microfleece) just layer the hemp one on the bottom (on the outside of the diaper). The fleece soaks faster but holds little, the hemp soaks slow but holds a lot. If you use both the fleece will act like an instant mop to absorb the wetness from her skin allowing the hemp to hold the liquid until she gets up. If she’s a real heavy wetter you may need to use two hemp inserts.
