Keroppi Hello Kitty
How would a Japanese import store do in my City?
I’ve always wanted to open a store that catered to Asians: a cutesy, kawaii store that sold mainly Japanese toys. I would like to focus on plush toys, mainly Sanrio dolls (Hello Kitty, Bad Badtz, Keroppi etc), Pokemon and more. I would have sections for import Japanese CD’s (J-Pop, Rock).
I think toy models (Gundam, Keroro Gunso etc) and movies (again, all imports) would sell well as well.
So how would this store fare in my city? I live in London, Ontario, and no store of this type exists (besides Neo Tokyo a store with a paltry selection of toys, and mostly rents movies) in the city. Would Toronto be a better choice?
Lastly, what would the cost to run a store like this be? What part of the city would be best? Downtown, or does it really matter? I assume imported goods from Japan are very expensive to get so would I need a ton of money?
