Why does my dashboard break light come on sometimes? 2007 Nissan?

See that little red light? It says “BRAKE” and I have no idea why it comes on?
It usually comes on when I go over 20 mph, and doesn’t go away until I either press firmly on my brakes or until I slow down to a stop.
The only thing I can think of is the wire under the driver seat is chewed from my dog, but the dealership told me that was only for the tire pressure monitoring system, and the airbags, and the seatbelt sensor.
Why is this brake light coming on? It comes on when it’s really cold, I haven’t noticed it when the weather is over 25F or so…

Check brake fluid level.
Japanese cars since about 1991 have had sensors in the reservoir to inform of possibly low level.
Check brake fluid level and open your owner’s manual for more information.
